Doers of the WordDoers) 4163. poietes, poy-ay-tace'; from G4160; a performer; spec. a "poet";--doer, poet. James 1 Amplified
22But be doers of the Word
[obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves
[into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth]. 25But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience). King James Version. James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. James 1:23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: James 1:24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. 1 John 4:17 “Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world When Jesus was on the earth as the Son of man, He was a doer of the Word. He always listened to the Father and obeyed what the Father told Him. Jesus always wanted to do what was pleasing to the Father. He never reasoned, he never made excuses, because He wanted to do the Father’s will not his, so He did it. Jesus knew the danger of just being a hearer. 23For if anyone only listens to the Word without obeying it and being a doer of it, he is like a man who looks carefully at his [own] natural face in a mirror; 24For he thoughtfully observes himself, and then goes off and promptly forgets what he was like. Jesus knew who he was, he did not have to keep trying to know who He was, He was confident in being a doer of the Word. He also new what manner of man He was. The disciples asked this question. Mark 4:41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? They did not have a clue, but Jesus knew. The Word says that Signs and wonders follow those who believed. Jesus believed and signs and wonders followed him. Jesus went about everywhere doing the Word. He cast out demons, He healed the sick, and He raised people from the dead. He gave sight to the blind, and healed the broken hearted. He took 2 fish and couple of loaves of bread and multiplied them to feed 5,000 men. He spoke to the storm and told the wind to be still and guess what? It stood still. Jesus also turned water into wine. Those are just a few things that He did. Wouldn’t you say He was doing the Word? He was not sitting back hearing the word about casting out demons and saying to himself, “ I do not know if I can do that, I sure hope I can do that someday. Jesus just did it. Mark 16:17 And these
signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out
devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
Would you consider Jesus to be an active doer of the Word? In Verse 25 of James chapter 1 it says: 25But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience
Was Jesus Blessed in His doing? Yes He was. Because of His obedience in doing the Word, miracle after miracles happened. Wouldn’t you consider that being blessed in His doing? Have you been hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit speaking to your spirit about a certain thing to do, or a place to go, to give something away that maybe you are holding on to? Has He prompted you in any area that maybe you have tried to reason, or maybe just ignored that voice or prompting. I can assure you that the prompting will keep coming, until you do what He is speaking to you to do. Remember it is being an active doer of the Word (obey) that you will be blessed in your doing. In other words BE A DOER OF THE WORD AND NOT A HEARER ONLY!!! If we are not being doers of the Word we are betraying ourselves and will reap a life of reasoning contrary to the truth Please take this to the Father and meditate on this food for the day. It is time to step up to the plate and be what the Word says and do what the word says you can do. All of God’s promises are already yours. Confession I am an active doer of God’s Word, not just a hearer only, and I am blessed in my doing. I live a life of Obedience. I live and walk in the Word just as Jesus does.
